Nootropic
The term "nootropic" (from Greek noos "mind" + tropos "turn") refers to compounds studied for their effects on cognitive processes in research models. Originally coined by Corneliu Giurgea in 1972, the term broadly encompasses compounds examined in neurocognitive research.
Semax and selank are classified as nootropic peptides in published literature. Semax has been studied for its effects on BDNF expression in hippocampal models. Selank has been studied for its interactions with GABAergic neurotransmission and anxiolytic pathways. DSIP has been studied in sleep architecture models.
